Cascadia Movement

Cascadia

Cascadia is a bioregion: the watersheds of the Columbia and Fraser rivers and the Pacific high coast, defined by land and water rather than political lines. It is home to roughly 16 million people, thousands of communities, and one of the most distinctive ecological and cultural identities in North America.

The Doug flag, designed by Alexander Baretich in 1994, is the shared symbol of this place: blue for the sky and waters, white for the snow and clouds, green for the evergreen forests, and the lone Douglas fir for endurance and resilience. The flag belongs to everyone who calls Cascadia home.

The full Cascadia section, including the movement story, the flag, and how to get involved, arrives with the full site. Until then, visit cascadiabioregion.org.
