Directory

The Cascadia movement is carried by independent organizations, community groups, research institutes, festivals, and events across the bioregion. This directory, maintained by the Department of Bioregion, gathers the nonprofit and community efforts that shape bioregionalism in the Pacific Northwest. A separate directory of for-profit businesses is planned.

Being Cascadian is a matter of choice and practice: promoting bioregional principles and growing an identity rooted in a love of place. The groups below put that practice to work in fields ranging from conservation science to soccer.

Cascadia Institute

Cascadia Wildlands

Defends and restores Cascadia’s wild ecosystems in the forests, in the courts, and in the streets; it began as a grassroots response to clearcutting in Oregon’s Cascades and Coast Range and has grown into a regional conservation leader. cascwild.org

Cascadia Partner Forum

The Climate Center at The Evergreen State College

The Center for Climate Action and Sustainability in Olympia, Washington connects interdisciplinary climate study to the land and water of the South Puget Sound region; Evergreen also hosted the first Cascadia Bioregional Congress. evergreen.edu/climate

Sightline Institute

A think tank committed to making the Northwest a global model of sustainability, promoting smart policy ideas and monitoring the region’s progress. sightline.org
